I'd mentioned somewhere in the last post or so that I would put up a link to the announcement in the trades -- which turns out not to be possible to view unless you have a membership, and that's a hassle for everyone. However, a friend saw the announcement mentioned by another blogger / book reviewer (whom I do not know) and so my friend posted an entry which includes the announcement and details and also a link to the book reviewer's blog entry. So if you're curious about the book, you can go there.
I signed the contracts a week ago-Friday. Real, honest-to-goodness contracts which have all of the little things in there like my name and the name of the book (which may end up being changed because the editor wants something that sounds more like a series title, and right now I have no clue what that will be), to things like the deadlines and obligations and rights. For the first time, it felt really, seriously, honest-to-goodness real.
I promptly had my first major league panic attack about ten minutes after they were in the mail.
Seriously, is it too late to decide to be a ballerina? Or a sherpa? Or a lamp salesperson? Because really, I could be a great lamp salesperson.
Posted by toni at June 22, 2005 10:55 AMCONGRATULATIONS!
So, is it too early to put in an order for an autographed copy?
Posted by: GarrisonSteelle at June 22, 2005 07:54 PMNice read. Keep it going. Spiderfriend333
Posted by: alex b at June 23, 2005 08:50 AMDon't worry! I know everyone has said that repeatedly, but trust me, you'll be FINE. The book will be fabulous, you'll be fine, and lamp salespeople don't make squat.
Trust me, it's retail.
Good to hear from you again, though. :)

Posted by: Karen at June 23, 2005 09:23 AMIt's not too late! Call your editor, tell her you made a mistake and to tear the contracts up!
You'd be a terrific lamp salesperson!
What? I'm just trying to help... Sheesh. I feel very unappreciated today.

I think you'd make a good lamp salesman, but I think you'd be an even better pet rock clothes designer! Cuz yanno, if you make the clothes just big enough they can fit on flying attacking squirrels!
I'm soooooooooooooo excited for you *bouncing up and down* that I can't WAIT for the release!!!
Don't forget about us peons when you make it to the top!
Posted by: Shannon at June 25, 2005 02:00 PMI can't believe I forgot....
From the bottom of my heart, thank you Toni for your donation in memory of Taylor. That means so very much to me.
You truly are a friend (yeah I know even though we've never met).......besides, you put up with me and my naked pet rock, so I know you're a pal!
Again, many hugs!
Posted by: Shannon at June 25, 2005 02:07 PMWhat's this? AN ACTUAL POST? Say it isn't so!
You'd make a great lamp salesperson, Toni. Put me down for 2 (I need some more lamps in this house).
